I am Apple, aka DRINKUNTILIACHE. I create work inspired by Menhera and Jirai Kei fashion. My main medium is digital illustrations created in Microsoft Paint featuring the two characters Megumi and Haruhi.

I like to combine ultra moe imagery with darker themes. My work focuses on cute anime schoolgirls but they are often dealing with problems such as mental illness, self harm, and substance abuse. However, I also depict them in normal situations such as going shopping or getting dessert. My work aims to comfort those who can relate to the characters, show that with the good comes the bad but with the bad comes the good, and to let people know they aren’t alone in their struggle.

I use MSPaint as my work takes a lot of inspiration from 2000s-2010s anime and using such a limited program gives it a rougher, older look. I am heavily inspired by the work of Bisuko Ezaki, specifically his character Menhera-chan and also created Megumi and Haruhi to be able to cope with my emotions. I wanted to be able to create emotional art that resonated with others just as Menhera-chan resonated with me without just directly copying Ezaki’s work.
